Shoot 17/2/11

Shoot for makemakebrand.com
Photographer: Me, Gemma Henderson
Models: Non models
My favorite images from the shoot...

The Boy

Quick shot of the boyfriend, just getting the lights ready for a shoot...

THE NOTEBOOK...

I watched The Notebook (2004) last night for the first time. It was one of those films that ive been meaning to watch for so long and never got round to it. So while Tom was out at some wrestling event i popped on my pjz and snuggled up to watch it. At the start i was filled with loads of ideas for my final shoot....All i will say is that by the end of it, i was in FLOODS of tears and The Notebook is officially in my top 5 all time fav films. I found myself half way through realising what was going on and that made me cry knowing in advance what was happening and then the end...well...i wont say what happens but ladies, have the tissues at the ready.

Ryan Gosling as Noah...Not only is he just nice to look at (what we all need for a good romance), he is also a great actor. For me, he was unknown before this, id not seen him in anything else.

Glee'nage Dream

Corinne Day 1962 - 2010

Clicking about - reading blogs - and i stumble across someone talking about how they didnt know Corinne Day had died and they felt like they had been living under a rock...I didnt know!
How could i have missed this?! Why wasnt it on the news or in the news papers? I must have been living under a lot of rocks to miss this! So shocked! I know this seems silly as she sadly passed away in August 2010 but she was one of the first photographers i remember when getting into fashion photography...

It was 2007 - 1st year of college and we went to the National Portrait gallery in London to see the Face of Fashion and i saw an image she had done of Kate Moss and i loved it that much i got it on a postcard and used it as a book mark for months....

She captured some of the most iconic fashion images - and famous faces - most famously, Kate Moss.

Got the Bieber Fever!

After feedback for my presentation and proposal for my final project came through last night, ive questioned everything that im doing and that i have done.
Besides the fact that the opening paragraph was just rude and insulting, the feedback wasnt the best ive had.
Im going to carry on with what i said i was going to do and produce images both me and my client are happy with...so stuff tutors and Uclan!
Oh a lighter note...
I had a dissertation tutor meeting today and it was all really good besides i repeat myself sometimes, but who doesnt? 12,000 words im supposed to write, ive forgotten what ive written already! and my style of writing sometimes doesnt flow but i knew that. She said she can see im working hard and everything else is really good...so thats a weight off my shoulders :) annnnddd....
Brought LOVE magazine for the first time ever today - not a magazine ive really looked at before. Only saw the front so when i pulled it out the bag and saw Beiber i got a right shock!

And the process begins...

Contacting people this evening for my final shoot:
- Model
- Hair
- Make up
- Retoucher
- Styling

I already have stylist - Rachel and possibly Jess who i have worked with for the past year so im looking forward to working with them on this final project.

Contacted a man called Simon that i worked with on a shoot at the end of 2010. He does hair and make up so im not sure if hes going to do both, or just one of the two. Hes a busy man so its just arranging times and seeing if hes going to be free.

Need to look into retouchers and photoshop pros, which to be honest will be my hardest job as ive never had to look before or work with someone on post production.

I have worked with a lot of models but i do want to work with more professional ones. There are a few that i have worked with before that i may work with again its now a case of getting in touch with people...

Shoot

Taken me a while to put these up:

7/12/2010
Photographer: Gemma Henderson *Me*
Stylist/Creator: Jessica Win
Hair and Make up: Simon Basquill

Ive not put up all of the images because they all need to be seen as a comic strip like the stylist wanted. The above image is my fav.

1 down 2 to go...

Presentation day today, 1 of 3
Went alright - basically just had to tell everyone what it is i am going to do for my final project...

I am working with Woodchip Boutique again which i really looking forward to...Basically i am going to create a range of images for them advertising their clothing and accessories. I know I've already done this but it didn't turn out how i wanted it to. Woodchip were really happy with my images but i wasn't so i am going to use my feedback and create even better images than the first set.

So...I now need to start planning. We don't have to hand in a sketch book for anything for this final project, just the images so i will be blogging as much as i can when i get some free time. (Which isn't very often because with this final project on the go and my dissertation i feel lazy when I'm just sat down eating my tea)

Over and OUT!

2011 - The year of exciting emails!

Woke up to an email from American photographer Judy Olausen (http://www.olausen.com/) last week after i emailed her with a few questions that i thought i would see if she would answer for my dissertation and she emailed me back. She also said that she would love to read my dissertation after its finished!! GOOD TIMES!
So...Dissertation...im just over one third of the way now...Never thought id see the day...just plodding along with that...

Finaly project has been set and i will admit i freaked out as soon as we were given it ebcause i didnt have a clue what i wanted to do. After reading all of my feedback ive decied that i want to carry on with a client breif styled project. Im going to be working with the lovely ladies at WOODCHIP BOUTIQUE again but this time the photographs are going to be 'shit hot' :) So rather excited about that.

Last night before i went to bed i saw i had an email from a man named CHRIS DORNING. He works with Woochip but also has his own business and he wants me to do a shoot for me. I was really excited that someone had emailed me and asked ME to do a shoot. The little things hey!
So this morning i looked at his sites...It turns out that he is one of the men that do the art on the walls at the Ship! So im REALLY exciting to be going a fashion shoot for him. http://www.mootart.com/index.php http://www.mootart.com/cms/MakeMake_pos

Things are coming together :) GOOD TIMES!
